For a long time, red and gray kangaroos were at risk because they were being hunted and eaten by dingo dogs. Australia and New Zealand had many, many dingo dogs. Now there are not as many, so the red and gray kangaroos are no longer at great risk.
But red and gray kangaroos are still hunted, by hunters that have permits from the government and by poachers (without permission).
Here is the website of a company that has a permit to hunt kangaroos for their skin and meat. It also offers private hunting trips for tourists! Does this make more people want to poach (hunt without permission)? I don't know.
But this is a freaky website.
